About Us

Why GIAH was created

AI for us, not to us.

The Global Initiative for AI & Humanity (GIAH) is a global-minded, public-interest institute advancing people-first guardrails for the AI era. GIAH exists to ensure innovation benefits every community, not just the powerful, by protecting human identity, agency, and trust and by advising governments, companies, and civic leaders on responsible deployment that powers thriving societies worldwide.

GIAH is the movement, vision, and advocacy arm of Liz B. Baker’s work: independent, public-first, relentlessly pro-human. GIAH doesn’t rubber-stamp frameworks. We analyze, pressure-test, and recommend guardrails that protect people without strangling innovation.

Why the name “GIAH”

The name, GIAH, is an acronym for the Global Initiative for AI and Humanity, but it also carries a deeper meaning.

Derived from a name meaning "to guide," the name reflects our core mission: to guide the ethical development and application of artificial intelligence for the benefit of all humanity.
